  • GRANT OBJECTIVES

    The aim of this program is to support and encourage to individual community members who have qualified for, or received an invitation to participate in, higher-level sporting, recreational, arts, cultural, or academic events in accordance with the Community Grants Policy – Individual.

    ELIGIBILTY

    Under the Program, the applicant must:

    • If an adult, be a permanent resident of the Longreach Regional Council area
    • If a student, be enrolled in a school within the Longreach Regional Council area
    • For sporting activities – be an individual representing the region and participating as an athlete in an official event i.e. North-West, State, Championships, Nationals or International competition level
    • For arts, cultural, or academic excellence activities – be participating in an official competition or event, equivalent to representing the North-West, State, Nationals or International events.
    • Have met acquittal conditions for previous council Grants
    • Not have any overdue debt with Council

    Council may fund retrospective applications lodged within 40 days after the event date.

    INELIGIBLE APPLICATIONS

    The following are ineligible to receive funding under the Individual Grants program:

    • Coaches, team managers, trainers and support crew
    • Applications which fund:
      • Equipment or other expenditure that are personal or of personal gain.
      • Items that would otherwise be funded by Government bodies.

    LODGEMENT OF APPLICATIONS AND CUT OFF DATE

    Applications are to be made using the Individual Grants application form on Councils website and must include relevant support documentation.

    Individual Grant applications must be received by 5pm on the first of each month to be considered by Council in that month.

    GRANT AMOUNTS

    1. Up to $350 will be available for individuals participating at North-West Trials or State Championships for an Eligible Event.

    2. Up to $500 will be available for individuals selected to participate at a national competition or event level.

    3. Up to $1,000 will be available for individuals selected to participate at an international competition or event level.

    Individuals may apply for a maximum of 5 grants per financial year.

    ASSESSMENT OF APPLICATION

    Applications will be assessed by a panel of council officers, against the eligibility assessment criteria within the guidelines.

    Any panel member who has a conflict of interest with an application must declare their conflict and not participate in the assessment.

    AQUITTAL PROCESS

    The successful recipient must acquit the Council grant within 60 days of the nominated event date. Funds will be paid to the applicant upon successful acquittal.

    SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

    Applicants are required to submit the relevant supporting documentation with the application & acquittal process, this includes:

    Evidence of selection or representation of sporting team or cultural arts activity.
    Applicants are required to submit receipts for the eligible expenditure as part of the acquittal process.

    Longreach Region Council is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and the Queensland Privacy Principles (QPPs).

    QPP 5 obliges us to advise you of certain matters when collecting your personal information. This collection notice sets out those matters, and explains how we will manage the collection, use, disclosure and storage of your personal information.

    The information collected is necessary to complete the grant application process.

    Your personal information has been collected under authority of the Local Government Act 2009.

    If you choose not to provide your name and contact details, we will not be able to process your grant application.

    Our privacy policy explains how you may request access to and/or correction of your personal information. Our policy also explains how you can complain to us if you consider we have breached our obligations to manage your personal information in accordance with the QPPs, and how we deal with privacy complaints.
