How to report tree maintenance
Council maintains street and park trees to keep them healthy and minimise risks to people and property.
Use our online form to report a Council tree that needs maintenance. This includes street and park trees that are:
- dead, diseased or unhealthy
- impacting a streetlight or road
- blocking a footpath, traffic signal or sign
damaged (e.g. have been hit by passing vehicles).
- For urgent road safety issues, such as a fallen tree blocking a road, phone Council immediately on 07 4658 4111.
When not to use this form
Don’t use the form to:
- report a tree growing too close to a powerline – for more information, visit Ergon Energy
- report a tree that has fallen on or damaged a powerline – phone Energex on 13 76 66
- request maintenance of a tree on private property.
Next Steps
Once your request is logged, Council undertakes a prioritisation process for tree maintenance based on several factors, including public safety. This process may take some time, as each request is assessed according to the tree’s condition and the level of risk it poses. Trees that present the greatest safety risk are prioritised.
At a high level, the process is as follows:
- Customer submits a tree maintenance request.
- Council conducts an inspection to determine the required action and assess the level of risk to public safety.
- A work order is issued to a local contractor to carry out the maintenance or removal.
- If tree removal is necessary, an internal approval process is initiated.
- Customer is notified once the work has been completed.
Please note: Some tree trimming requests may take up to 6 months to be completed if assessed as lower priority, due to the availability of Council resources.
